While illegal aliens flee strict immigration enforcement policies in several states and settle in Texas, the state's budget is suffering and violent crime, soaring.

News reports indicate a flood of illegal aliens is coming from states such as Arizona and Oklahoma 鈥?where immigration crackdowns have made life more difficult for them. In the meantime, Texas' violent crime rates have taken a turn for the worse.

What are some of the more known criminal cases involving illegal immigrants?
The one that lives VIVIDLY in the minds of the people here in New Jersey is from 2007 when two illegal aliens executed three college-bound teenagers. Both men, members of MS-13, sported rap sheets as long as a football field. Illegal alien Carranza, featuring 31 indictments, raped a five year old girl. Illegal Godinez distributed drugs. Both enjoyed freedom via bail bonds while escaping deportation through Newark's Mayor Cory Booker's ';Sanctuary Policy.';
Well let see... Jeffery Dahmer.. Timothy McVeigh, John Robinson, Charles Whitmore, David Berkowitz, Ted Bundy, Leonard Lake, Andrew Cunanan, Gary Ridgway, Dennis Rader, John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo oh wait those are US citizens. Ummm.... I don't know of any. Sorry.
the illegal immigrant andrew jackson etnically cleansed the native americans.
All illegals are not coming to this country to be upstanding citizens.

Why does not faith healing work on serious cases in hospitals?

Is not Jesus powerful? People like Benny Hinn take his name in some gatherings and popularize themselves. What about those chronic cases ,the poor ,the disabled who cannot come and cry at these gatherings..

Why is not Jesus kind to them too? Why should one all the way take the trouble to come to such spectacles to heal themselves ,can't it happen thru a sincere prayer?

Who is powerful ..Benny Hinn or Jesus? Why does not faith healing work on serious cases in hospitals?
With GOD asking this question, we are confused if he personaly knows Benny Hill . LoL.

There is no human currently who can ever take or even come an inch close to what any God is. Benny Hill is a businessman %26amp; selling his commodity Gospel to all those who wish to buy. In the process, getting publicity %26amp; not to mention big money. Most of the crying %26amp; cures are stage managed . The cure is thru medicines %26amp; praise is to Benny Hill.

It is completely erroneous to even contemplate that Benny Hill or an Godman can replace God %26amp; God's values. Why does not faith healing work on serious cases in hospitals?
Yes Jesus is powerful and he does work in hospitals just as well as at a gathering of believers. People like Binny Hinn are not powerful in themselves but it is the power of God that has been bestowed upon them at the time that heals people. I don't believe these healers are trying to popularize themselves by holding services. They are making themselves available to others. He does not take credit for healing people. He states that it is God's power that heals. Some people are anointed by God for this task but I am living proof that God will use an ordinary person that no one knows in the same way to heal them. God will answer the prayers of any who believe that he has the power to heal them. Your faith in God always has a lot to do with whether or not you will be healed.
Faith healers today are not the genuine healers like the ones that the apostles were. The apostles could heal and raise the dead.

Nobody today has been raised up from the dead by a faith healer about explains it the con it is. Though the placebo effect can have some advantages it is not from holy spirit but pychological.
One must trust in God! Benny Hinn has no power but the God he serves does! He is the One who performs the miracles, but if a person does not believe in the God Benny serves then all is for naught! Nothing is impossible to him that believes! We have a very small part to play, but a very important one and that is to believe in God!
Faith healing is much like a form og hypnotherapy, although they may not know it. That can help with many problems (helped my gran with cancer pain and coping with death) But it cant cure serious illness as thats not a problem in the mind but with the body/infection
Very simple, answer is in your question only.

After getting serious only people are getting rush to hospitals.

(Don't consider in accidents)

God gives Sixth sense to human beings regarding ';prevention';

There is no question of blaming Doctors or God.

Above all, all religions still believe ';Destiny';
The faith is much superficial

if not experienced by the self

and serious cases are much closer to the self,

which renders the faith healing ineffective in serious cases.
hi,

dedicated devotion is true faith and if one applies this

properly one will always get rewarded only thing is that

we do not have a meter to read the response.

Miraculous healing ended in the first century. Benny Hinn and others are liars and fake. The Bible is specific and God moves today with providence, not miracles.
I don't believe in faith healing. Only God heals. And yes, God still heals. Statistics show that praying for someone sick will decrease their recovery time.
Yeah that stuff dont really work. Like that one guy recently who left his daughters life in gods hands and she died. Seems like actual medicine works better than mumbled words.
Why won't god heal amputees?

Is cases like the Garrido Kidnapping indicative that we need to keep a closer eye on our fellow citizens?

Just goes to show, you can't trust your neighbor. Is cases like the Garrido Kidnapping indicative that we need to keep a closer eye on our fellow citizens?
it's indicative of what a lousy job the government officials did when they did their checks on a known sex offender. Is cases like the Garrido Kidnapping indicative that we need to keep a closer eye on our fellow citizens?
That would suck. Just as likely as not, suspicions would not fall on the right people. Take for instance the BTK killer. He was a building code inspector.

However, when you have a valid suspicion it is your duty to fall through. I know if I ever have occassion to call the police, I follow up with questions about what they found and what they are doing about it. I wouldn't just trust it to the police ( although of course 99% of the time they handle matters well).

But there is also a lot about the case that doesn't add up. He may have kidnapped her, held her captive and maybe even punished her in way we as yet do not know about--but in the long run she stayed because it was her home. I read report of the daughters as pale and robotic but I saw pictures of them well dressed, healthy and attending a party. Suckciety is protecting its politically correct feminist values.
The guy was a convicted rapist allowed out of prison early.

Why was he not followed up on by the authorities regularly? Isn't that their job?

As for keeping an eye on our fellow citizens, this is why it's important to have a sense of community in your neighborhood. By being an active neighbor you get to know those who live near you. It's amazing what you learn about people when you go beyond the wave and nod.
This would have never happened if we had something that even resembled a justice system. Start hacking off limbs for violent/sexual crimes and see how many pervs are still hanging out around schools. Lighten up the tax burden on society by buying a few boxes of .22 rounds and clean up death row. Hey it'd make more room immediately, but then you probably wouldn't need as much room in a few years. That's just evil, insensitive, me though. Haha, are you asking that we beef up the patriot act? How about we stop crying for someone when they go to jail and protect our children!!!
Keep a closer eye on our neighbors? You should probably stay away from me.

How about if we actually hold those accountable for crimes? A little more execution and a little less rehabilitation would work alot better.

Keep an eye on me.........try it.
We have to keep a closer eye on known sex offenders and others convicted of crimes.
the neighbors actually complained. The police dropped the ball on this one.
Garrido is ONE NUT JOB in a country of 300+ million people.

Does anyone remember the poisoned Extra-Strength Tylonol cases back in the 80s?

I have been trying to remember if they found the responsible party(ies), what happened to them, and how they cracked the case. I can't seem to find anything on the Internet about it either. Tylenol Crisis of 1982

The Tylenol crisis occurred in the autumn of 1982, when seven people in the Chicago area in the United States died after ingesting Extra Strength Tylenol medicine capsules which had been laced with potassium cyanide poison. This incident was the first known case of death caused by deliberate product tampering. The perpetrator has never been caught, but the incident led to reforms in the packaging of over-the-counter substances and to federal anti-tampering laws. At the request of later Chairman Joseph Chiesa, new product consultant Calle %26amp; Company rescued the brand with the invention of Tylenol Gelcaps, the first inherently tamper-proof [enrobed]capsule, recapturing the 92% of capsule segment sales lost to product tampering.

***Does anyone remember the poisoned Extra-Strength Tylonol cases back in the 80s?
I remember it but don't remember if they found out who did it.
I was not born until the late 80's but last year we talked about it during my business ethics class. I don't remember if th teacher said they found the party that was responsible. Sorry that i could not help.
I just remember that it was Strychnine.
Yes I do and I also remember the lady that they busted for using that as a scape goat after murdering her husband with arsenic for his insurance money. She got life and a day. That is what she gets,a measly 20K she killed him for and never seen a dime. She can rot in hell when she is done rotting in her prison cell!
It was befor they put the saftey seals on bottels and people were slipping other drughs into the bottels . I have no idea how they were cought.
';A THINKER'; You must have heard the same news story that I did. It's been a long time, but I do recall that it was a woman that was poisoning her husband. She tampered with other bottles placing them back on the shelves in the drug stores to divert suspicion from herself. In the end, she was caught, tried and convicted. I'm curious, was there more than one case? Obviously the other respondents have accurate info where ';no one'; was found.
no they never found the guilty party but as a result of that episode all over the counter meds have been sealed under the bottle cap since that time

On September 29, 1982, 12-year-old Mary Kellerman of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, woke up at dawn and went into her parents' bedroom. She did not feel well and complained of having a sore throat and a runny nose. To ease her discomfort, her parents gave her one Extra-Strength Tylenol capsule. At 7 a.m. they found Mary on the bathroom floor. She was immediately taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Doctors initially suspected that Mary died from a stroke, but evidence later pointed to a more sinister diagnosis.

Mary Kellerman

That same day, paramedics were called to the Arlington Heights home of 27-year-old postal worker Adam Janus. When they arrived, they found him lying on the floor. His breathing was labored, his blood pressure was dangerously low and his pupils were fixed and dilated. The paramedics rushed Adam Janus to the emergency room at Northwest Community Hospital, where they attempted to resuscitate him, but it was too late. Adam died shortly after he was brought to the hospital. His death was believed to be the result of a massive heart attack. However, doctors would later learn that his death was anything but natural.

The Janus family victims' funerals

On the eve of Adam's death, his aggrieved family gathered at his house to mourn his sudden passing and discuss funeral arrangements. Adam's 25-year old brother Stanley and his 19-year-old bride, Theresa, both suffered from headaches attributed to the stress of losing a family member. To his relief, Stanley found on Adam's kitchen counter a bottle of Extra Strength Tylenol. He took a capsule from the bottle and then gave one to his wife.

Shortly after taking the capsules, both Stanley and his wife collapsed onto the floor. The shocked family members immediately called an ambulance. Once again paramedics rushed to the home of Adam Janus and attempted to resuscitate the young couple. However, Stanley died that day, and his wife died two days later.

According to an article by Tamara Kaplan, Dr. Thomas Kim at the Northwest Community Hospital became suspicious following the deaths of the three family members. It was suspected that poisonous gas could have caused the untimely deaths of Adam, Stanley and Theresa. However, after consulting with John B. Sullivan at the Rocky Mountain Poison Center, it was determined that cyanide might be the culprit. Blood samples were taken from the victims and sent to a lab for testing.

While the blood samples were being tested for cyanide, two firefighters in another location of the Chicago suburbs discussed the four bizarre deaths that had recently taken place in the neighboring area. Arlington Heights firefighter Philip Cappitelli talked with his friend Richard Keyworth from the Elk Grove firehouse about Mary Kellerman and the fact that she had taken Tylenol before she died. Keyworth suggested that all the deaths could have been related to the medicine.

Following his friend's suggestion, Cappitelli called the paramedics who worked on the Janus family and asked if they too had taken Tylenol. To both the men's surprise, they discovered all three Janus family members had ingested the popular pain reliever. The police were immediately sent to the Kellerman and Janus homes to retrieve the suspicious bottles.

The following day, Keyworth, Sullivan and Kim's hunches were confirmed. Cook County's chief toxicologist, Michael Shaffer, examined the capsules and discovered that they were filled with approximately 65 milligrams of deadly cyanide, 10,000 times more than the amount needed to kill the average person. Moreover, the blood samples of all the victims further confirmed the belief that they were all poisoned.

McNeil Consumer Products, a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson and the maker of Extra Strength Tylenol, was immediately alerted to the deaths. An October 1982 Newsweek article reported that the company began a massive recall of their product and warned doctors, hospitals and wholesalers of the potential dangers. However, by then it was too late for three more victims of the deadly poison-laced Tylenol capsules.

Twenty-seven-year-old Mary Reiner of Winfield, Illinois, was recovering after the birth of her son when she unsuspectingly ingested the Tylenol laced with cyanide. She died a short time later. That same day, 35-year-old Paula Prince, a United Airlines stewardess, was found dead in her suburban Chicago apartment. Cyanide-filled Tylenol capsules were also found in her home. The seventh known victim of the Tylenol poisonings was 35-year-old Mary McFarland of Elmhurst, Illinois.

Soon after the national news stories on the tragic deaths from the tainted Tylenol, widespread fear swept throughout the country, especially in Chicago and its suburbs. The police drove through the city using loudspeakers to warn citizens about the potential dangers of Tylenol, which further compounded the people's fears. Citizens across the country literally ran home to dispose of their bottles of Tylenol.

According to a Time article by Susan Tifft, hospitals in the Chicago area were flooded with telephone calls concerning Tylenol and fears of poisoning. Jason Manning's article titled The Tylenol Murders stated that the growing nationwide panic prompted the head of Seattle's Poison Control Center to inform citizens that if they had indeed been poisoned with cyanide, they would be dead before they were even able to make a telephone call to a hospital or the police.

Nevertheless, hospitals around the country admitted many patients under the suspicion of cyanide poisoning from Tylenol. The rapid influx of patients was mostly due to mixed signals from the health authorities concerning the threat and symptoms and the ensuing panic of people who really believed that they might have fallen victim to poisoning from the tainted capsules. However, although there were no new cases of poisoning related to Tylenol except for the seven known deaths, many states and retailers took drastic measures to assure that it remained that way.

Newsweek's October 1982 issue stated that some state health departments actually banned all forms of Tylenol products. Moreover, many retailers completely removed Tylenol products from their shelves. Many other states and retailers decided to follow the FDA's warning and remove only the products with particular serial numbers linked with the deaths that posed the greatest threats. Regardless, Tylenol's reputation was virtually ruined by the scare because no one wanted to buy the products any longer for fears of being poisoned.

At stake were the reputations of McNeil Consumer Products, who manufactured the over-the-counter Tylenol capsules, and its parent company, Johnson %26amp; Johnson (J%26amp;J). The future of both companies greatly depended on how they were able to handle the alarming situation. The main problem they faced was that the drug, once trusted by millions worldwide, was now equated with death. Their first steps were to inform the public, find the source of the poisoning and determine if the cyanide had been impregnated into the capsules at the factory where they were manufactured or elsewhere.

In response to the deaths, Johnson and Johnson immediately issued a nationwide alert to the public, doctors and distributors of the drug. According to an article by Jeremy Cooke, they also issued a massive recall of 31 million Tylenol bottles, costing approximately $125 million. J%26amp;J also established a crisis hotline, so that consumers could obtain the latest information about the poisonings, safety measures and any other information concerning the drug. Around the same time, the company inspected the factories where the tainted bottles were produced to see if the cyanide was somehow put into the capsules during production.

Following inspections, the company determined that the cyanide was not introduced into the bottles at the factory, which left only one other possibility. The FBI, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and law enforcement agencies realized that someone had methodically taken the Tylenol bottles off the shelves at the stores where they were sold, filled the capsules with cyanide and returned them back to the shelves at a later period. Investigators had no evidence as to who might have committed the heinous crime and there was continuing fear that more deaths might occur unless they caught the Tylenol terrorist
They never did find the culprit

A guy named John Douglas who was the head FBI proliler at the time wrote about it in his book ';Mindhunter';

There are many different ways to cite legal documents, and may even vary from state to state. If you can find a Bluebook ( http://www.legalbluebook.com/ ), that provides the most detailed information, but there is also information on the web at: http://www.law.cornell.edu/citation/

The two most widely used sites by attorneys are www.lexis.com and www.westlaw.com. Both are a pay service and fairly expensive. However, if you have a law library in your town, they may offer use of one or the other for free.

You can also try a variety of print sources at the law library: Am. Jur., CJS, etc. etc. etc. But your best resource will be the librarian herself. Be very polite and ask if she can help you find what you're looking for. At the very least she'll point you in the right direction.

I think that you could not write no net ionic equation because there is no solid at all. The purpose of the net ionic equation is to show us the solid in the end. Is this correct? What is the net ionic equation for those cases in which no solid was produced? Why?
The net ionic equation removes like ions from the equation. A solid is not a requirement for a net ionic equation. It just makes finding a net ionic equation easier if there is a solid sometimes I think.

Cases tried against the UCMJ and their verdicts?
One issue with military law is that the trial court does not ';publish'; orders in the way that Federal District Courts often do. So you're really going to be looking at how the appeals courts dealt with the material. Usually the appellate court will tell you what happened in the underlying case. Here is the structure in which UCMJ cases are tried and appealed under the following structure:

Trial Court--Based on the rules of the service in which the trial is conducted (usually this is the service members' branch, but, for example in Joint Commands, it may not be)

First Level Appellate--Court of Appeals for the relevant Branch (For example the Army Court of Criminal Appeals)

Second Level Appellate-- US Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces (handles appeals from all Branches (ie. Army, Navy, Air Force)

Highest Appellate Level--- US Supreme Court

(Additionally, military law may arise indirectly in other state and federal proceedings. For example, when states look at how to apply past military convictions they will look to the UCMJ in order to determine if a particular crime was a felony)

Here is a link to the US Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, which contains opinions going back to the 1996-97 term.

    http://www.armfor.uscourts.gov/Opinions.htm

This is the link for the Army Court of Appeals, which has opinions published back to 1995. It also contains the links to the other appellate courts:

    https://www.jagcnet.army.mil/8525749F007224E4

I also recommend the Cornell site (which is very good for civilian legal research as well). The Cornell site has links to most of the applicable law, including the US Supreme Court.

If you are a lawyer looking to help a client, in order to thoroughly research case law you would either need a military law library or access to Westlaw or Lexis. (Or you can work with the Trial Defense Attorney (assigned to every service member facing charges) to split up research needs... I was a TDS attorney and often did research and pulled cases)Where can I find UCMJ case law? Cases tried against the UCMJ and their verdicts?

Does anyone know about any famous terminal illness cases besides that of Terri Schiavo?

The Schiavo case isn't a terminal illness case. Terminal illness means your going to die DIRECTLY from the illness, her case was a PVS (persistant vegitative state). But anyways, a similar PVS case is the Nancy Cruzan case which is probably the most classic. There are others too. The Elizabeth Bouvia case is interesting but slightly different but you see a different side to the subject so it may help also.Does anyone know about any famous terminal illness cases besides that of Terri Schiavo?

What do you think of Vanguard gun cases?

I want to buy a breakdown case for my shotgun, and the Vanguard ones are looking pretty good. They have egg crate foam inside with some Velcro straps, and they look sturdy. My question is, is this a good case to store it in? Does anyone have one who could testify? What do you think of Vanguard gun cases?
    Vanguard makes great Gun Cases. I'm up to 5 now I think. I have a Model GDS-6251-C that I carry my Belgium Browning Over-Under in when I travel. It measures 311/2'; x 13 3/8'; x 5';.

All of the Vanguard Cases have digital Locks + and additional Padlock hardware installed. They are all Airline Approved, so they are heavier made than most others. The heavy Velcro inner straps are great for holding your gun in place inside the case too.I've had this one about 5 years now and my Browning stays in it all the time even when stored long term inside my gun-safe. The linings are foam and designed to draw off any moisture, so long term storage will not damage your guns. I also store my Remington 700 Custom Long Range Match Rifles in two other Vanguard cases and they have been all over the U.S with me traveling to Matches and Competitions here in the U.S. %26amp; Canada.I would highly recommend these cases to anyone that is particular about protecting their guns, be they expensive firearms or your regular field guns. These are the best I've seen to date........

What are the different ways and means through which lawyers and judges try to delay cases?

In India there are so many pending cases in the courts... what in your opinion is the reason behind it?What are the different ways and means through which lawyers and judges try to delay cases?
In criminal law, most attorneys try to delay trials because after a set amount of time a case can be dismissed for lack of speedy trial. This is a constitutional right and the case must be dismissed if it is infringed upon. What are the different ways and means through which lawyers and judges try to delay cases?
The most common issues that keep cases pending are conflicts with clients such as payment to the attorney, schedule conflicts between the attorney and other pending cases he/she may have in the court, vacation time, sick leave, emergency leave, having a trial take longer than expected and lack of discovery and/or evidence that the court may be waiting on.
They want (need) to get paid before completing a case. If the defendant hasn't paid, his (her) case can't get wrapped up.

if your previous offence is not the same as the new offences, then you may still be cautioned provided you were forthcoming during interview and showed remorse for your actions. That being said, the decision will be made by the officer, and you can still be sent to court for this. What are the lowest and least serious cases heard in the childrens court in Victoria, Australia?
The children's court hears ANY and ALL cases involving children.

Not sure about VIC but in NSW they could not take you to court for underage drinking, however, with the fake ID- they are more likely to go after the person who made the ID than you.

You will most likely only be asked to provide evidence if they try and prosecute the maker of the ID. However if you refuse to help them- that is when you could be changed for obstruction of justice.

As I understand it, lawyers apply for Writs of Certiorari, but the Supreme Court denies the vast majority of them. Can I somehow get a list of recent Certiorari denials and the details of the cases involving the denials?

I would be interested in comparing characteristics of cases resulting in denials with those resulting in Writs being awarded. How can I get a list of cases for which the Supreme Court has denied Certiorari?
I don't know that they are published. The list would literally be thousands upon thousands of cases long.

The two main things the Court looks for in deciding whether to grant cert. is whether there is a major disagreement over a matter of importance between the circuits or whether there is a fundamental constitutional violation.

What are the good and bad aspects of relying on precedent to decide current cases?

do u have an example of precedent that either was not followed in the past, or should not be followed in the future. How much leeway do judges have in deciding whether to follow precedent? How much leeway should they have? what do u think. What are the good and bad aspects of relying on precedent to decide current cases?
    Advantages:

    -It allows for greater predictability.

    -Uniformity

-Practical - Based on facts and real situations

    Disadvantages:

    -Ratio sometimes unclear.

    -Complexity and volume.

    -Rigidity.

Unsystematic - depends on facts, nor a comprehensive code.

How much leeway do judges have?

This is a heavily debated topic; particularly the point - dop judges make law? I think it would be blind to say they don't have some creativity. For example R v R (1991) made marital rape unlawful, although previously it was not.

How do they avoid following a particular precedent?

-Distinguishing - Different 'material facts', different legal question to be answered etc.

-Over-ruling - Judges of a superior court may over rule decisions on appeal.

-Disapproval - Doubt expressed but not expressly over ruled. What are the good and bad aspects of relying on precedent to decide current cases?
good: it streamlines the process and makes it easier for the jury to understand the case.

bad: It does not account for the exception.

Why does Wisconsin have so many cases of swine flu?

Wisconsin has by far the most cases of swine flu, and the only other states that come close are huge states like Texas, California, New York, and Illinois. Why does a smaller state like Wisconsin have so many cases? Why does Wisconsin have so many cases of swine flu?
You've got the perfect climate there - cool %26amp; dry (influenza viruses like that). Tourism is a big deal in Wisconsin - plenty of out of town visitors to spread the virus. These might be a couple of the factors, but it might also just be bad luck - these things happen. Viruses are very unpredictable %26amp; if a couple of large clusters developed in Wisconsin the numbers we're seeing aren't that surprising. I wouldn't worry though, other states will catch up soon! Why does Wisconsin have so many cases of swine flu?
We have a good climate for it, and tourism is a big thing in Wisconsin. Lots of people visit here, and lots of people bring it back home with them too. We have a big business and manufacturing industry here, so people are always traveling around on business trips and stuff like that too.
probably because its sooo close to Illinois and Chicago and many people from chicago go to wisconsin dells for a quick getaway

What happened to all those court cases where Obama citizenship was challenged?

What happened about the supreme court cases where several conservatives vowed that they will stop Obama in his tracks from becoming president because he was born in Mombasa, Kenya.

I tried to hunt in news a lot but no news source gave any update including foxnews. Why not?

if Obama was truly born in Mombasa, Kenya how then can he be president? What happened to all those court cases where Obama citizenship was challenged?

if Obama was born in Kenya, he cannot be President.

If Obama was born in Hawaii, the lawsuits are based on scams.

Courts follow the law. If there is no legal authority for a private individual to challenge someone else's citizenship, the courts WILL NOT HEAR THE CASE.

Now, go back and reread line 2.
Well, here's one of them, Leo Donofrio, who took his case to the supreme court. This is a letter written to a conservative website explaining what happened with his case, the responses to this are priceless:

    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-blog鈥?/a>
One by one they fell by the wayside, unceremoniously kicked out of court for bringing nuisance suits with no proof or evidence. I think there are still a few hanging around, but they will end up with the same result. I think the court should heavily fine these wingnuts who come up with this garbage and take up the court's time and waste our tax dollars.

    Edit:

The first one was Berg, as the cons love to point out. Never mind that he's a nutcase and just happens to be a Democrat. And he never had any real connection to Hillary Clinton other than independently supporting her for President - more bogus Internet crap. Berg is also the guy who tried to sue the government for planning and carrying out 911. After him, the rest of these suits were indeed brought by far right wing nutballs.
You cannot go to courty on lies and making up something when facts do not support cause. Don't watch fox and you will know what is going on, if you must watch Republican news, watch msnbc or lou dobbs a former republican, one that had ethcis that no longer exist in that party for themselves!
They are still going on. Some are not being reviewed until March. So it hasn't gone away. However...I don't believe anything will ever come of it. Why? Many that have been involved or follow it are aware that America risks complete civil unrest if Barry is dethroned.
Weren't even considered. I do find it humorous, however, that anyone would suggest it was a ploy by bitter Republicans, when it was all started by Berg, a Hillary Clinton supporter.
When you get your news from the lunatic fringe it tends to be light on facts.

I am doing a research paper for my Communications class and I was just interested in some cases or issues with major companies that I may not be thinking of in which they had to use PR to ';fix themselves';.

    For example: Firestone tires blowing up, McDonalds being outed by the documentary ';Super Size Me.';

Have a look at what Dow did after the Bhopal disaster.

How many US swine flu cases can be either directly or indirectly traced to Obama's laxed immigration policy?

With Obama's policy of open borders how many of the current and future cases can be tied to illegal immigrants from Mexico entering the US?How many US swine flu cases can be either directly or indirectly traced to Obama's laxed immigration policy?

As usual you have me rolling on the floor laughing with this misdirection. During the last 8 years Bush and cheney did NOTHING about tightening our borders and have throw up road blocks to any bills to tighten our borders this year. And you try to lay the blame for the Republican policy of blocking all tightening of border security on Obama. Obama has not declared an open border BUSH did that!
That's a boondoggle if I ever heard one. If you want to trace the spread of the swine flu, look to tourists, not immigrants. There are far more of the former.
um...no. see nothing has changed since obama took office...same failing border policies we have had for 30 yrs...hey hows that wall coming?

What are the most important cases regarding freedom of speech?

I am doing a project for government and any other information would be beneficialWhat are the most important cases regarding freedom of speech?
Galileo Galilei. He was censured for trying to say that the the earth revolves around the sun, not vice versa. This went against the official dogma of the Roman Catholic church, and he was forced to recant rather than be tried of heresy, and spent his last years a virtual prisoner of the Inquisition.

Despite this, Galileo's ideas filtered out and were steadily accepted. The authority of the church was increasingly questioned, and their block on freedom of speech and expression was increasingly resisted. The Reformation was strengthened by such cases.

This contributed to the Glorious Revolution and the Enlightenment; the birthplace of many of the political and social freedoms we take for granted, as well as the rapid scientific and technical progress that followed as a consequence.

    Edit:

Jeremy W- yes indeed, that would be Giordano Bruno, who had an unpleasantly fiery end. However, although he was a geocentrist, his case was more about theological issues, and Galileo's has the significance of being the first to significantly involve the use of (or refusal to accept) testable evidence. What are the most important cases regarding freedom of speech?
Galileo got off lightly. There was a monk around at about the same time, name of Bruni or somesuch, who also proposed heliocentricity and was burned at the stake for it. Maybe he didn't have one of Galileo's telescopes to help him defend his views.

What to do with two cases of peanut butter?

I had a friend give me four cases of PB I managed to give away two of the cases now I need like a recipe that takes a lot of PB any idea's?What to do with two cases of peanut butter?
Here are two of my favorite PB recipes.....

    PEANUT BUTTER BARS

    1/2 margarine or butter

    3 cups brown sugar

    1-1/3 cups creamy peanut butter

    1 tsp. salt

    5 large eggs

    1/2 cup canned applesauce

    1 Tblsp. vanilla

    3 cups all purpose flour

    1 Tblsp. baking powder

    PEANUT BUTTER GLAZE:

    2 cups powdered sugar

    1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

    3 Tblsp. corn syrup

    1/2 cup milk

Cream margarine or butter, brown sugar, peanut butter, and salt with mixer for 10 minutes. Add eggs, applesauce, and vanilla. Mix for 1 minute or until smooth. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Combine flour and baking powder. Add half of this to the batter and mox. Add the other half and mix. Continue mixing for one minute or until smooth. Spread in lightly greased 18” x 13” x 1” half sheet pan. Cur recipe in half for a 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. until set and lightly browned. Frost with PEANUT BUTTER GLAZE: Cream powdered sugar and peanut butter with mixer for 5 minutes. Add corn syrup and milk; mix until smooth. Spread over slightly cooled peanut butter bars.

    or these.....

    RICE KRISPIE PEANUT BUTTER BARS

    2 cups sugar

    2 cups light corn syrup

    1 jar (18-oz.) peanut butter

    12 C. Rice Krispie cereal

    6 oz. Chocolate chips

    6 oz. Butterscotch chips

Bring sugar and syrup to a boil; remove from heat and add peanut butter. Stir until well blended; pour over cereal and stir until cereal is evenly coated. Spread into greased 12 x 17 pan. Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips together and spread on bars. Great without frosting, too. (Also good with corn flakes). What to do with two cases of peanut butter?

Bumps on a log (PB spread into the groove of a celery stalk and topped with raisins.)

Veggie dip -- mix with a little margarine and use it as a dip. You can also add honey to it. This dip packs well in lunch boxes because it requires no refrigeration. It's too stiff for chips, so use carrot sticks or celery sticks with it.

Pindasaus -- Dutch Indonesian peanut sauce. You can use this with a diced-chicken-and-rice casserole or a ground-beef-and-rice casserole. Take 1 cup of PB, 2 cups water, 2 tbl soy sauce, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp garlic powder, 2 tsp ginger, and a little salt and pepper. Add the water to the PB and gently whisk it in. Once it's thinned, stir in everything else until smooth. Bring to boiling over medium heat, reduce heat, and let simmer about 5 minutes. This stuff is wonderful, and brings PB out of the dessert category.

Why do there appear civil cases with little value of subject matter?

In the so-called civil conflictions, there always exist a certain number of cases with little value of subject matter, coming into the civil proceedings. In these cases, even if the party wins finally, the compensation he can obtain is often far away from offsetting the cost of proceedings. Moreover, before starting proceedings, the party always realizes that fact. Accordingly, why does there still appear this kind of proceedings? Why do there appear civil cases with little value of subject matter?
Rickinno's right. I hear this very frequently--';it's not the money it's the principle'; and honestly I have mixed feelings about it. People should not have to abandon their legal rights just because there's not a lot of money at stake. On the other hand, it does clog up a legal system that's overburdened, like the one in my area. A solution that's been somewhat helpful to us is to send all money-only cases to mediation. We also schedule a settlement week twice each year. Every attorney is my district has been given mandatory mediation/settlement training. Every attorney must participate in settlement of civil cases both as a mediator/settlement facilitator and as an advocate. The only exception are domestic or family law cases involving drug or alcohol abuse or violence. Why do there appear civil cases with little value of subject matter?
In these types of cases, the motivating factor is usually justice. They aren't out for a big payday, they simply want to show that the other party's actions were wrong.
Civil cases are much more individual oriented. If someone considered a case as mistreat, he can raise civil proceeding to protect himself.

Those cases are good to train lawyers so that they can handle criminal cases.

How can I distinguish between dicta and a judgment in US Supreme Court cases?

I know what dicta is, but how can I tell where it is?How can I distinguish between dicta and a judgment in US Supreme Court cases?
Frankie's answer is excellent and I can't think of any way to improve upon it. I guess the best thing that I could do for you is to give you an example of a short opinion which I think is filled, frustratingly, with too much dicta. Here is the famous Palko decision.

    http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/hi鈥?/a>

Between numbers 1 and 2 there are nine paragraphs and most of what you'll see in there is just plain dicta. Everything that you read in the opinion which explains WHY the Court rejected Palko's argument (that his right against double jeopardy was violated) is ratio decidendi -- not dicta. And everything else -- the rhetoric which explains what else, besides the Double Jeopardy principle, is covered by the 14th Amendment, is just dicta. How can I distinguish between dicta and a judgment in US Supreme Court cases?
You've just got to read the whole case and determine yourself. Obiter dicta will often be ';what if'; musings or comments that aren't binding, while ratio decidendi is that which forms the reasoning behind the judgment, becoming precedent. The two aren't split up for your convenience, unfortunately, and some parts of the writing will often be arguably one or the other. It can be difficult to differentiate the two at first, but it gets easier after a while.
Usually, the actual decision begins ';we hold that ....'; or ';we find that.....'; or ';In this case, the Defendant is not liable ....';etc....

Dicta is everything else (like the reasoning behind the decision).

Legalizing abortion will surely give way to a sharp increase of abortion cases?

What do you think would happen to unborn members of human society if they were subjected to the freedom and conscience of the individual person?

Please explain to me in one or two paragraphs鈥?tnx!Legalizing abortion will surely give way to a sharp increase of abortion cases?
abortions will happen whether it's legal or not. it's just that when the practice is illegal, would-be mothers run the risk of infection from insterile, shotty operations. plus, if abortion was illegal, think of the increase in dumpster babies and child neglect and abuse when mothers dont want their babies. it's like that couple who used their 7 week old infant as a tug-o-war rope; that baby had broken bones all over its body. so really, its a question of which is the lesser of two evils: aborting the fetus before birth, or neglect, abuse, and suffering later.Legalizing abortion will surely give way to a sharp increase of abortion cases?
Legalizing abortion will not increase number of abortion cases. These cases happen anyway legal or not.
It will probably increase the activity at the legal level in the sense that those who would otherwise go to an illegal and dangerous clinic will come out in the open and do it legally which means that the amount of abortions does not increase so much as the knowledge of those activities.
Murdering babies should be made unlawful all-around. A loving couple can try for years and never have a kid; then here comes this stupid girl who loves to spread her legs and doesn't care whether she gets pregnant or not, so when she does, then she has an abortion. Abortion is murder no matter how much you butter up and make the text all nice and neat. It should be punishable by death.

Hope you didn't pay to much for them. My experience with Rit dry remover is that is takes all color out. Hubby either needs to dry is head before he gets in bed or lay an old towel over the pillow case
You can try Rit Color Remover. May want to try a small spot to check if it takes the original color out of pillowcase.
Probably is a lost cause. I know this sounds weird but, spray it down with hairspray and then wash it. Hairspray is how we keep dye from staining our clothes at work, if you spray it on immediately.
It sure is, honey. Better throw 'em away and tell hubby to be more careful and considerate next time he wants to look younger !!!
no hairdye stays in a garment forever
Once dye has dried, it is one of the hardest things to get out. Try using bleach and letting it soak for about 30 minutes. But I've found that it's usually a lost cause.

What evidence of a chemical reaction might you see in the following cases?

    1. Dropping an Alka-Seltzer tablet into a glass of water

    2. Bleaching a stain

    3. Burning a match

    4. Rusting of an iron nail

I'm not sure if I got #1 right. I answer, It reacts to produce bubbles of carbon dioxide and soluble salts. What evidence of a chemical reaction might you see in the following cases?
You are correct that gases are formed for example #1 but I don't think that is the desired answer. I arrived to that conclusion based on the fact that each of the four examples above requires knowledge that goes beyond just chemical reactions.

For instance, in example #1, you would need to know what an ';Alka-Seltzer tablet'; is. You would need to know that these tablets contain bicarbonates and citric acid to know that CO2 would form when dropped into water.

The tablet doesn't react with the water. It is dissolved in the water where it allows the sodium bicarbonate and citric acid that is in the tablet to react.

All chemical reactions either gives off heat (exothermic) or needs heat (endothermic).

So if you want to know if a chemical reaction took place, take a temperature reading.

All four above are examples of exothermic reactions.

Color changes. Check for any color changes, too. Three of the four examples would exhibit color changes (e.g. rusting nail).

Changes in weight. For instance, the burning match would weigh less over time as more and more of it is converted to waste products of carbon dioxide and water vapor. Iron weighs less than Iron Oxide. What evidence of a chemical reaction might you see in the following cases?
    2. is an oxidation reaction.

    3. carbon and hydrogen in wood of match is burned to make co2, h2o.

    4. formation of iron oxide (reaction of iron with oxygen in air)

How man swine flu cases in the US are confirmed to be illegal immigrants?

Have there been any reports on confirmed cases in the US to be illegal immigrants? Or are people just pointing the finger at illegal immigrants because they are easy targets? How man swine flu cases in the US are confirmed to be illegal immigrants?
Maybe both. What the Mexican haters should remember is that the so-called ';Spanish Flu'; which killed anywhere from 50 million to 100 million people world wide started in the USA.

Two previous outbreaks of the swine flu in the past 35 years started (and ended) in the US.How man swine flu cases in the US are confirmed to be illegal immigrants?
None that I know of.They say the the little boy in who died in Texas of the swine flu was visiting relatives.Yes he was from Mexcio, but it says nothing about the little boy being illegal. It says his immigration status in unclear.
Cotton said: Wasn't the toddler who died in Brownsville Texas an illegal?

(No authority - immigration, medical or governmental - has ever suggested that the child was in the US illegally)

Truth? said: The child in Texas was not an American.

(That's the truth. It's also true that nobody has said he was an illegal immigrant.)

rlstaehle said: None that I know of...yadda yadda yadda...ICE...yadda yadda yadda

(Or to put it another way: none.)

American Man said: The first one to die was an illegal kid.

    (No, he wasn't.)

William O said: How many cases of swine flu in the US are confirmed NOT to be from illegal aliens?

(Answer? All of them. All of them, legal travellers, most of them American citizens.)

It's amazing. People are dying and every redneck with an axe to grind is seeking to make political capital out of it all.

It appears to be driving some to insanity - not to mention outright lying - because any and all cases of this outbreak are traceable back to legal migrants.

Not to mention the fact that the prime suspect for the originator of the disease is a huge US-owned pig farm based in Mexico, operated by Smithfield Foods of Virginia. I mean, hey nobody's confirmed that this is the case, but if we're in the mood to point fingers based on suspicion and prejudice...
Don't know, but the only death in the US was a Mexican national. A baby boy that was brought here for treatment.

From what I can tell, the swine flu is over blown and the deaths are probably caused by something else that weakened the people that were killed. Smells like a Mexican government cover up to me. Ground zero of the swine flu has an ongoing issue with pollution.

Add - The pig farm in question is not entirely owned by a US company... but they are a partner. Not sure who is major owner nor who is responsible for its operation. In any case it is up to the government to enforce the laws pertaining to this farm as it isn't an issue that has popped up out of nowhere. The local population has been complaining about the conditions there for quite some time.
How many cases of swine flu in the US are confirmed NOT to be from illegal aliens? Even the kids that went to Mexico on spring break and came back to find that there was an outbreak at the school can not for sure say that it was NOT caused by an illegal alien at the school! It's like your kid getting bitten by a scorpion! Which one did it? We will never know!

One fact is clear. The child that died was brought to the US by parents who wanted free medical care. They exposed thousands of people to a deadly virus by illegally entering the US (they stated they were entering to ';visit'; NOT get medical care which is visa fraud and makes them illegal aliens). So you have the only death in the US being an illegal alien.

If we spent less money on having criminal in this country maybe we could help other countries get things like better medical care! But the pro-criminal groups would rather have 1 illegal alien sucking on the teet of the US than use that money to help millions in their home countries!

Rizzo: Maybe both. What the Mexican haters should remember is that the so-called ';Spanish Flu'; which killed anywhere from 50 million to 100 million people world wide started in the USA.

    {The Spanish flu was found in Australia in 1917. The first case in the US was in 1918. DO THE MATH! It is believed that the disease was started in the far east. The US was the first to ';Register'; the disease. Think of it like a new car. You may be the first person to ';register'; the car but that doesn't mean you built it!}
When someone sneaks across the border with no control then who knows what they might be bringing with them? Like it or not this swine flu started in Mexico. So it is entirely possible that someone carried it across the border. So of course illegals are going to get the blame. They don't care what happens as long as they get away with breaking the law.
None that I know of, but then again wouldn't going to the hospital right now be very foolish, considering the current atmosphere, doing so would put the bulls-eye right between their eyes for ICE to zero in. Part of controlling the spread of any virus is tracking the carriers movements.

Where's your math assignment? Can't you make the numbers work in your favor?
The first one to die was an illegal kid... besides, mehico now says we are discriminating against swine flu.... I say we are just discriminating against swine!
They are just pointing at them, Because it started in Mexico most north american people are blaming Mexican, even if they haven't been in mexico. It's just another reason for them to discriminate.
The racist Americans are using this opportunity to promote their hateful agendas against hard working immigrants. Shame on them.
strangers (foreigners) are always an easy target for bigots!

wasn't the child who unfortunately died in texas a tourist?
they are just easy targets.everyone of us or our ancestors were illegal immigrants at some point.
The child in Texas was not an American.
Nope! and we are an easy target to who ever that wants to point fingers and talk crap! =/
    George bush caused swine flue.
I never pointed the finger at illegals for that because there is no documentation that is the case. There is plenty of data that does say that illegals cause crimes once here, abuse our welfare system, clog up public schools, less willing to assimilate, drive with no license or insurance causing wrecks/deaths, I could go on and on. So, no need to point a finger at illegals for the flu that is dubbed the mexican flu by many.
Wasn't the toddler who died in Brownsville Texas and illegal?

How do Australians feel about the Corby and the Bali 9 cases?

I was just wondering. I am not an Australian but I wonder what they think of their cases! I feel sorry for them some might be ececuted or spend 20 years to life in jail. Horrible! How do Australians feel about the Corby and the Bali 9 cases?
Outraged for Corby, but mainly because there was so much speculation surrounding it and I think the Bali 9 got what they deserved. Although, my view differs from that of the general public and I can't speak for all Australians :)How do Australians feel about the Corby and the Bali 9 cases?
I'm Australian and I don't really care, they should have looked into things before they went committing crimes overseas. The Bali 9 I really don't give a sh*t about, I mean they were smuggling heroin, that kills people. If Shapelle Corby really is innocent then I feel bad for her, but comes from a family of druggies so I am doubting it.

OK I'm not THAT heartless, I feel sorry for the FAMILIES of these people, it must be hell for them, but the accused should have been aware of the consequences.
As an Australian i honestly dont care what happens to them. If they were silly enough to try to smuggle drugs knowing it is Illegal then they deserve the punishment. The Bali 9 were caught with the drug on them.
I have always felt the the Corby lady was innocent but unfortunately the courts found her guilty. The Corby family are money hungry bastards, buthat doesn't make Shapelle guilty.

The Bali nine are guilty and some I fear will pay the ultimate penalty for their stupidity. They knew what they were doing and they knew the risks. It's absurd really, the mules cut was only ten grand. You can't even buy a good car for that.
