And they often put grooves in for adaptations which cross over other tools. Why do ratchet socket sets come in cases which always break?
good question, they make a socket set that cost well over 200 bucks and three times opening it the case breaks, they do this to cut cost or something,it really doesn't make any sense,i think the case should last as long as the sockets do,you,d think with the price we pay for some of these tools that the cases would last a lot longer, but they don't,and you usually cant buy a replacement case, but if a socket breaks, you can buy a new one of them,or they,ll replace it free of charge, its all about production right now,the more they make of them the more they can sell, maybe someday will get cases that will out last the tools, hopefully, good luck .we can hope. Why do ratchet socket sets come in cases which always break?
they seem to be skimping out on a lot of quality on things these days, its all about the amount of them they can sell anymore, good luck.

They make the cases out of breakable material so you'll buy more of them.
I have a socket set that was my Dad's, its in a metal case and this is still intact though its over 60 years old, he kept it when he left the Army after the war, perhaps they don't make them like they used to do.
Although the metric new one I bought, the clasp is broken and I have it tied up with an old pair of tights
That is true, I never thought of that. Back when I was in High School in Auto shop, EVERY single case was broken or damaged in some way.
a real mechanic uses socket rails and gives the crappy plastic case to the back yard mechanics
Its know as progress i dont think . i have mechanics socket sets that i purchased 20 years ago in steel boxes and are still in good working order
This is so you'll lose the 1/4, and the 9/16 socket and need to replace the whole set on an annual basis.. The extra grooves are there to give you the false impression that this tool set is expandable..
I put the sockets and ratchets in a real tool box and throw the cheap plastic garbage away.
Some of the Craftsman sets come in plastic boxes that have actual hinges though.
so you have to spend more money on tools to hold your tools
cost cutting?
