What cases do homicide detectives respond to?

I had a bit of a debate with someone today over a news story in our local paper. A man was found dead in his car that was sitting out in a parking lot. According to the article, homicide detectives were sent out to the scene.

We were discussing the article because it happened very close to where we live. I said the man was probably murdered since they sent the homicide detectives out. The other person disagreed with me and said that homicide detectives go out to any death scene, not just suspicious deaths. So, my question is:

Do homicide detectives respond to all death reports, or do they only respond to those reported as ';suspicious';?What cases do homicide detectives respond to?
If it is unattended or suspicious they go. Same for suicide. If it is obvious, like cancer person dying at home, they do not. What cases do homicide detectives respond to?
You treat any Crime Scene involving a body as a murder. You collect everything you can and get every available person to the scene. You try and get every specialist in a relevant field to help. I think you owe it to the person that died (however it may be) to do everything you can to catch the killer.
they usually go to all death scenes because they have to investigate it still because it may just look like a normal death/suicide/other. like in lost last night Lock was killed by Ben and he made it look like a suicide
Why would a ';homicide'; detective come out if it weren't a homicide or a suspected homicide? Your friend is an idiot.
Just suspicious ones
