What kind of cases are medical lawyers normally involved in? Who do they normally represent?

I'll be graduating college in about a year and I'm strongly considering law school at the University of Houston. Houston has a huge bio-medical industry, and U of Houston's law school has a highly ranked medical law program. I'd like to know, what would be involved with this focus? What kind of cases are medical lawyers normally involved in? Who do they normally represent?
Most of them are after representing the doctors and hospitals. Individual people don't have money and you don't collect much unless you win. It takes a lot of money to win large settlements/judgment. This is a general concept and applies to most lawyers except criminal where only the Govt is the other option. What kind of cases are medical lawyers normally involved in? Who do they normally represent?
They handle medical malpractice cases. They represent patients in lawsuits against doctors, hospitals, and other medical providers
