When the job that you plan on gettign is all about helping others, but people destroy your chances of getting it and want you to be a social worker? Performing a community service is a form of social work, but social work study has its own special studies and offered by universities as a carrier choice. Generally courts in a form of a minor sentence, chose community service as a form of give back to society by offenders. The government would never force someone to be a social worker, at least not in the United States of America. There is strong sentiments that people should do whatever they can to help others, but career wise it should be through whatever field it is you have an intereset in. If someone is making you feel as though you need to pursue a certain career path, it could be that they think highly of your compassionate nature, and feel that you would do best, for yourself and others, in a field that focuses on community service.
